Slide 27 - Home-prepared salt and sugar solutions, though incomplete in their composition, may be quite adequate for early treatment of most cases of diarrhoea.

Home-prepared salt and sugar solutions, though incomplete in their composition, may be quite adequate for early treatment of most cases of diarrhoea. However, a potassium deficit, in particular, may occur and the feeding of potassium-rich foods (e.g., citrus fruits and their juices, banana, coconut water) can compensate in part for these losses.
