Slide 33 - In summary, one must use a three-tiered approach to rehydration therapy, which is represented in this slide.

In summary, one must use a three-tiered approach to rehydration therapy, which is represented in this slide. At the first level - the home - mothers should use home-made solutions for early treatment of diarrhoea. At the second level - village health workers and peripheral treatment facilities should have ORS available for the treatment of cases requiring a more balanced solution. Finally, a minority of cases will need access to the third level - a well equipped hospital or treatment centre where intravenous therapy can be given.
